Office Hours

How to get the most out of available office hours

Etiquette

Office hours are for getting fresh ideas on how to approach your homework or debugging. Here are some tips to make the most out of both your time and ours.

Minimize scope

Before coming to office hours, narrow down your problem to a specific bug/area as much as possible.

Prepare your questions

Collect your thoughts and prepare a list of questions to ask us during the session in order to get the most question-answer throughput.

Read the docs

If the question is about getting your environment set up or something you might expect other students to have similarly encountered, you can first check the course Piazza or the documentation here to see if it addresses your problem.

Google it first

99% of the time, the internet will have helpful information on the problem that you're having. You will also learn a lot more by doing so. Googling is a skill.

If you come to my office hours I will probably just Google your question. - Vincent
